Disc Brake Units BE 100, BE 125, and BE 200
The hydraulically lifted, spring-loaded brake units BE100 and BE 125 are designed for use on winders, aerial ropeways, cranes, and passenger and goods elevators.
The brake unit can serve as an emergency, service, and holding brake. It is completely enclosed and suitable for the most arduous operating conditions. Its special technical features include precise adjustability.
The braking force is generated by columns of disc springs. These springs are designed for a working life of more than 2 million load cycles of standard working strokes.
The braking force can be controlled hydraulically. A reduction of the pressure in the hydraulic system results in a commensurately higher braking force. This is of particular importance for use as an emergency brake: in the event of failures, e.g. main power loss, the pressure remaining in the system can generate a preset or also controllable braking force which ensures safe stopping of the machine. Linear transducers or micro-switches serve to continuously monitor the operational safety of the brake unit in respect to trouble-free performance, wear, and spring fracture.
Maintenance work on the brake unit is very simple and can be carried out with absolute reliability. It is possible to infinitely vary the braking force.
The design allows long intervals between readjustments, as the wear limit is not prematurely reached due to the fact that no stepped adjustment or changes in clearance occur.
Measurement of the air gap and checking of the spring characteristics can be carried out at any time, with minimum effort, by means of linear transducers.
Advantages of the „BE“ disc brake units
- High braking forces
- Infinite lifetime – rated for more than 2 million load changes for standard working strokes
- Low brake surface pressure in line with mining regulations
- Large air gaps, i.e. high operational safety
- Fine adjustment, infinitely variable and clearance-free
- Fully encapsulated against dirt and aggressive media
- Monitored by linear transducers, brake unit inspection without disassembly
- Low maintenance required
- Flat spring characteristic (4.5 % and 5.4 %, respectively, of force variation on 1 mm wear)
- Low hysteresis due to alternate-layer disc spring columns
- Further, the brake units BE 100 and BE 125 are interchangeable with comparable brake units to offer better reliability with higher braking force.
