SIEMAG TECBERG concluded an agreement for the modernization of the shaft hoisting system
On 30 November 2011 SIEMAG TECBERG concluded an agreement for the modernization of the mine shaft hoisting system. The ower PG Silesia - Czech Energeticky a Prumyslovy Holding - is a leading strategy investor in the energy sector as well as in mining and industry sectors. As of 2012, Silesia will start to produce high-quality coal, mainly for the energy sector and its specific forms for retail sale. Silesia also sells coal mine gas (methane), stone for building purposes, and will provide solutions for clean energy storage of minerals.
The company is currently in the modernization process of coal mine "Silesia", located in the Silesia mining area Czechowice-Dziedzice (south of Poland), where the resource balance exceeds 500 million tons of low-sulfur coal.
Under the agreement, the Consortium led by the company SIEMAG TECBERG Poland Sp. z o.o. will perform the design documentation and the modernization of the shaft hoisting system of the shaft No. 2. This modernization includes:
- reinforcement of the shaft tower
- shaft reinforcement
- replacement of the winder (mechanical and electrical part)
- replacement of the loading and unloading stations
- electrical power supply (together with cabeling)
- shaft signaling system
- shaft heating system
SIEMAG TECBERG will also provide maintenance services for the next 10 years. The scope of work includes also obtaining all required permits, reviews and approvals in the scope of existing legislation, as well as supervision over the investment.
"This is an extremely important stage of modernization. On its success depends achievement of the 2013 production of 3 million gross tons per year. For this reason, the implementation of this investment has been handed to the company with international experience, guaranteeing a modern solution", said Jiří Pasztika, CEO of PG Silesia.
Design works begin in early December 2011, and the modernization of the shaft will start in early February 2012. The project will be completed within 21 months. The investment cost reaches tens of millions of zlotys (PLN).
