SIEMAG TECBERG GmbH signs a contract for work and services for hoisting installations in the Sedrun Shafts
The companies AlpTransit Gotthard AG (owner of the Gotthard Base Tunnel) and SIEMAG TECBERG GmbH have now signed a contract for work and services for the hoisting equipment to be installed in the two 800-metre-deep shafts in Sedrun, Switzerland. The installation of the hoisting equipment, which will be used for the completion of inspection and maintenance work, will begin in August 2013.
The services to be provided by SIEMAG TECBERG GmbH include planning, design, and engineering of the hoisting installations for the vertical shafts in Sedrun, which are around 800 metres deep, as well as manufacturing, installing, and commissioning this equipment.
The lifting equipment in shaft 1 will primarily be used as an inspection platform for monitoring the basic structure of the shaft and the cables and water pipes installed in the shaft when the Gotthard Base Tunnel is in operation. It will also be used when renovation work is required. For inserting cables in shaft 1 a further drum winder is part of the scope. A mobile winch with an inspection cage will be used for the inspection of the second shaft. This will also be used for the evacuation of the hoisting installation in shaft 1.
The installation of the hoisting equipment in shaft 1 will begin in August 2013 and will run until spring 2014. The hoisting equipment will then be integrated into the railway tunnel's control system as part of the commissioning process.
The installation of this hoisting equipment does not prevent the potential construction of a lift for the Porta Alpina station at a later point of time.
